i should stop looking at the news sites-rant

From the Boston Globe: (Via National Review)
But according to aides, Kerry was particularly incensed Wednesday when he heard reports that Bush donor Perry had written a second $100,000 check to continue financing the group and stayed up late that night writing eight new paragraphs to insert into the speech...
As part of a concerted counteroffensive, Kerry spokesman David Wade said the Democrat was "reactiviating" a team of veterans known as the "doghunters" who defended Kerry's service record since his first Senate race, in 1984. Four of these men joined a campaign news conference yesterday morning to criticize the anti-Kerry veterans for questioning whether Kerry's injuries and actions warranted medals.

"Every time they attack John's record, they attack my record," said Bill Zaladonis, who served on Kerry's boat. "They demean my medal, everyone who got a ribbon in Vietnan, it demeans their medals. I wish they'd stop."

*SO* Saying John Kerry didn't deserve his medals is bad because it makes everyone else look bad

BUT if John Kerry didn't deserve his medals thats not as bad as saying he didn't

lord god give me strength

Have i worke up in some insane country where we can't have an intelligent conversation about things?

Where no one not even Faux News is raising the question "If John Kerry just opened up his records we could put this all to bed."

George Bush gave all the records he could get on his national guard service, and the national guard is well known for shoddy record work

but no one is demanding the same accountability from Kerry, in fact they are demanding no one say he is accountable

TWO ITEMS WORTH NOTICING [08/20 08:40 AM]

This little factoid seems buried in the middle of a Los Angeles Times story:

According to a new poll by CBS News, Kerry has lost ground among veterans since the Democratic National Convention, when he ran neck and neck with Bush among those voters. Now, the president has an 18-point lead among that group, according to the poll, which surveyed 1,009 adults nationwide.
Another little noticed point:

Since the ad debuted, [Swift Boat Vets for Truth] has raised $450,000 from more than 10,000 contributors, largely through the group's website.

Now folks, are these ten thousand people all partisan plants of the bush administration?

people... lets try and accept that large numbers of people have a problem with John Kerry that he could have ( and should have) fixed

He has a Vietnam record that boils the blood of alot of vets

and he is running hard on being a Vietnam Vet.

this is called Risk Managment 101

Whomever ran Kerry's campaign should have seen this as a huge risk ( and a huge benifit) and taken steps to minimize the risk and maximize the benifit

but he continues to play all sides

and no one says a flippity floppity thing

HUGH HINTS OF MORE TO COME [08/20 08:30 AM]

Was great to be on Hugh Hewitt's show last night, hopefully will return soon. He compares the Swift Boat Vets to a Bush scandal/issue in 2000, and also makes a prediction of what's to come:

The young lefty bloggers are in a snit: "This shouldn't matter! What I think matters ought to matter! How dare this matter!"
I remember the feeling well. Bush's DUI ought not to have mattered on the last weekend of 2000, but it did. That was a story about which Bush had never lied, had never traded on, but it mattered. The collapse of Kerry's narrative about Vietnam does matter because Kerry made it matter. In fact, Kerry needed it to matter because a focus on his votes over 20 years in the United States Senate could not be sold to the American public, especially not during an economic expansion, and especially not during a war.

This is why this matters, this is why the news should be doing F!Ng Journalism

John Kerry's Raison Detre has been his whole Vietnam Narrative

both for and against

he hasn't ran much on his senate career and when he has, his own staffers don't know much about it

(Saying he was Vice CHairman of the Senate Intelligence committee for one)

Ok i need to bludgeon some people
